  6. The problem is definitely with the video drivers.  My PC came with 2.1 
  7. drivers, and exhibited the phenomena noted by other posters -- crashing with 
  8. the win32s software.  I tried the 2.2 drivers, and windows won't even come up. 
  9. (I have a S3-C805 with 1mb ram).  A colleague found an old copy of the 1.5 
  10. drivers, and now it works just fine.

  42. This isn't entirely true, since the WinSock specification defines
  43. several WSA*() functions along with closesocket() and ioctlsocket();
  44. these functions aren't available on Unix.  Also, the definition and
  45. semantics of most BSD functions have changed slightly since they use a
  46. SOCKET type and require that WSAStartup() be called first.

  48. So, is there any implementation of WinSock available for Unix that more
  49. closely matches the documented WinSock specification?  Source code
  50. would be ideal, but the knowledge of an existing implementation would
  51. also be helpful.

  77. Has anybody had any experience with Frontier Technologies winsock package.  
  78. They are offering it for sale for $89 at the Networld show, and I wonder if it 
  79. is pretty good.  I went for the Chameleon at the ComNet 94 show, and I am 
  80. still having problems with the software.  Netmanage doesn't seem to be too 
  81. interested in fixing the problems with the newsreader and TN3270.
